Mount Si High School’s girls’ golf team fell at home yesterday in a nail-biter to Newport.

The Knights won by just one stroke, 236-237 (lower score wins) at Mount Si Golf Course in Snoqualime. Newport took the match despite another medalist round effort for Wildcat senior Caitlin Maralack. She fired a 37 and now has five straight medalist rounds to start the season. Kat Hodgson added a round of 41 to the efforts pacing Mount Si.

Tammy Liao led Newport, firing a 41, and Lin Gabe added a round of 45 as the Knights won their third straight match.

Mount Si is now off until April 14, when they meet Eastlake at Sahalee Country Club in Redmond.

Cedarcrest girls’ golf match postponed: The Red Wolves ladies were scheduled to take on Sultan yesterday at Blue Boy Golf Course outside of Sultan, but the match was postponed and rescheduled to April 19.
