Athletes of the Week for 5-18

A little late this week with another round of girls’ selections for our Athlete of the Week, but better late than never.

CEDARCREST-Senior Hailey Lacher gets our nod this week for closing out her team’s regular season in style on a day honoring her and the other members of CHS’ class of 2016 last Friday. Lacher hit two homers and drove in five runs, leading the Red Wolves to a home win over Lakewood that helped send Cedarcrest into the Northwest District tournament starting tomorrow as the Cascade Conference champions. Preview here tomorrow.

MOUNT SI – The Wildcat girls’ high school lacrosse team finished up its season last week, and it was a successful first go-round, as they finished 7-5 on the season. They did not make the playoffs, but a solid, above .500 start in their first season with a largely freshman and sophomore lineup can only mean good things going forward for the program. Leading the Wildcats this season in scoring was Jessica Morris, and she gets our nod this week on the strength of a 37 goal, 14 assist campaign that made her one of the top scorers in the entire Snoqualmie league which they were part of this spring in the state girls’ lacrosse association. Look for this team, under the watch of head coach Christy Clinton, to develop into a strong program in coming seasons.
