Athletes of the Week for 11-2

Time for our final boys Athlete of the Week selections for the fall.

MOUNT SI – Football on the brain this morning and we give it to junior receiver/defensive back Jesiah Irish, who scored touchdowns both on offense and defense last Friday for the Wildcats as they won a shootout with Newport seen live on TV all over the Northwest on Root Sports. Irish caught two touchdown passes from QB – and previous AotW this fall – Cale Millen, and also returned an interception of a pass from Newport to the end zone for another TD. Irish is a young man you will be hearing a lot about in college recruiting circles in the coming months, and his play as of late is showing why. Mount Si finishes the season Friday at Everett.

CEDARCREST – Cross country gets our nod, and we give senior Ian Fay the nod this week, as his fourth-place finish at this past weekend’s Northwest 2A District boys’ championship race at South Whidbey High School propelled the Red Wolve guys to another state trip, their sixth in the past seven seasons. Fay, who clocked 16 minutes, 46.06 seconds to earn that fourth place position, and previous AotW’s this fall Ben Benson and Grant Van Valkenburg led the way for CHS in getting their state berth and they will all compete next week at the 2A state boys’ meet in Pasco, in what will be Fay’s final high school race. We’d look to see him on a college cross-country course somewhere next fall.
