From the pitch on this Friday

Back after a hiatus this week with no news of note…with a small item of note for you Mount Si High School soccer fans, especially those of you with satellite TV.

The University of Texas’ women’s soccer team opens its season tonight at home in Austin, TX, with an exhibition against nearby rival Incarnate Word, from San Antonio. The game is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m., and will be televised live on the Longhorn Network cable channel, which is an ESPN-affiliated network that is available in certain packages on both Dish Network and DirecTV.

Tonight’s clash could be the college debut game for the Valley’s own Natalie Weidenbach. The Texas freshman defender, we’d expect, should see some playing time in tonight’s contest, as the Longhorns see their first game action of the season, allowing the team to put things they’ve worked on in practice into actual game situations.

Weidenbach is a 2017 Mount Si High School graduate, and is from North Bend. If you will be watching, she will be wearing the number 55 jersey.

We’ll be sure to let you know if she makes her debut later on. Also, later on, we’ll have news from Logan, UT, where a Cedarcrest High School graduate is manning goal this afternoon for Utah State’s women’s soccer team in their season opener. Sophomore Maggie Richey, from Duvall, got the start in net for the Aggies in their exhibition opener against Southern Utah, which is still ongoing as of this writing. Full wrapup on how she did later.
