Wildcat boys fall in heartbreaker at Bellevue, 1-30-12

The Mount Si Wildcat boys basketball team gave Bellevue all they could handle last night, but the Wolverines found a way to get it done in the end, handing Mount Si a heartbreaking overtime loss.

Despite 18 from Ryan Atkinson, the Wildcats fell 52-49 in overtime to Bellevue at Bellevue High School. The loss was especially tough on coach Steve Helm. “One of the hardest losses I’ve had in many many years,” Helm said by phone to the SVSJ. “The kids just played their heart out.”

Mount Si held a halftime lead in the contest, only to see the Wolverines rally in the second half to force the extra session.

Mount Si hosts Senior Night Thursday at home against Liberty. A win will clinch the #5 playoff seed for the Wildcats. Game time is 7:30, and prior to the game, several seniors are set to be recognized, including Atkinson and Miles Zupan, among others.
