Happy Thanksgiving from the SVSJ, and a bit of news as well with that turkey…..

Good Thursday morning and we want to wish all of you and your families a happy Thanksgiving. We offer our thanks to you, our readers, for trusting us with your Snoqualmie Valley sports coverage.

With that, we have a small bit of news this morning concerning one of our local college athletes, and recognition she’s received for her work in the classroom.

The Pacific-12 Conference of NCAA Division I this week named its All-Academic team for cross country, and receiving an honorable mention was Snoqualmie’s Melissa Hruska. Hruska, a women’s cross-country competitor for Washington State University, where she is a sophomore, was one of five Cougar ladies named to the various all-academic lists, and among two given honorable mentions. Hruska, a 2016 Mount Si HS grad, is holding down a 3.26 grade point average in her studies over at the Pullman campus. To be eligible, athletes needed to obtain a 3.0 GPA and be among the primary runners for the team, which Hruska was this season, earning a trip to the Pac-12 conference championship meet, where she finished in the middle of the pack.

Hruska’s major is not declared at this time. We offer our congrats on this recognition.
