Friday hardwood news: Valley high school hoops teams all routed by opponents from near and far

Good Friday morning.

Time for last night’s news from the hardwood. We start with a rundown of Mount Si High School’s hoops results from southern California.

Mount Si’s boys’ hoopsters struggled against one of the nation’s top teams last night as they fell again at the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.

Westlake, from Austin, TX, broke out to a 25-9 lead after one and handed the Wildcats a 75-41 loss last night in a consolation round game at the tournament in southern California. Jabe Mullins led Mount Si with 16 points, while Tyler Patterson added eight.

Westlake is ranked ninth in the nation and showed why out of the gate, with strong offense. Their defense also held Mount Si junior Bijon Sidhu to just five points.

Meanwhile, in San Diego, the Wildcat girls fell 62-41 to Granite Bay of suburban Sacramento in the semifinal round of the Surf N’Slam tournament. Stats are not available. The ladies are off today and finish the tournament tomorrow taking on Watsonville, also from California.

Mount Si’s boys play again today, however.

Cedarcrest boys fall: The Red Wolve boys could not recover from a slow start and fell at home last night to Arlington, 66-43. More from the Everett Herald. CHS plays King’s on January 2 in a return to Cascade Conference play.
