Athletes of the Week for 1-10

Time now for our Athletes of the Week. Boys selections this week.

MOUNT SI – We head to the mat for our selection this week. Spencer Marenco was one of several Wildcats to score match wins in their dual meet victory Thursday over North Creek, and then he went to the Gut Check Invitational on Saturday and took sixth in that event in the 145 lbs. weight division. Marenco is one of the top wrestlers for Mount Si this season, and looks to make it to Mat Classic down in Tacoma in March, the state wrestling tournament. The Wildcats host a dual meet on Thursday against Inglemoor and Newport.

CEDARCREST – To the hardwood and junior Chris Busch gets our nod this week, on the strength of a 22-point effort for the Red Wolve boys’ basketball team in their 83-58 win last Thursday over Sultan up in the Sky Valley. Busch is leading the team in scoring, averaging a little over 11 points a game for a CHS team that is in the lead in the Cascade Conference (5-1) despite an under .500 overall record (5-7). A big one awaits the Red Wolves Friday as they host Archbishop Murphy.
