On the mat this morning

Wrapping up the wrestling action from this past weekend, it was a strong day on Saturday for Cedarcrest High School’s team at the Everett Classic. Three weight class wins – and three runner-up finishes – propelled the Red Wolves to a third-place team finish. Winners were Caleb Lay (195), Matt Weinert (170) and Miguel Tomayo (106). Fredrick Reid (160) and Michael Norris (138) were among the runner-up finishes for Cedarcrest.

Mount Si finished 16th as a team in the event, with their highlight coming from their girls’ rep, Kinsey Steskal (120), who won her weight class in a girls’ division in the event.

Also, Wildcat Spencer Marenco (145) finished sixth in a separate tournament on Saturday, the Gut Check Invitational, in Bremerton.
