Good Sunday morning. Time for yesterday’s scoreboard.

Youth Baseball
WW Sweets 18U 9, Bellevue Dragons Elite 0 (game one, doubleheader): A rare pre-season double-dip saw a couple of Mount Si High School players get reps in advance of a busy early part of this upcoming week with the start of the high school baseball season. Dusty Dover was 1-3 with an RBI to pace Sweets to the win at Eastlake High School in Sammamish. Fellow Wildcat Troy Baunsgard was 0-3 for Dragons.

WW Sweets 18U 12, Bellevue Dragons Elite 1 (game two, doubleheader): The Sammamish-based Sweets took care of business in the nightcap of their doubleheader to earn the sweep. Dover was 0-2 with two walks and a run scored for Sweets, and Baunsgard was 1-1 with a run scored and RBI, the lone one of each of those, for Dragons.

College Baseball
Rhode Island 8, Seattle U. 1 (game two, doubleheader): Both Valleyites on the SU side saw action in the nightcap of their twinbill with the visiting Rams from the Atlantic 10. North Bend’s Alden Huschle, a 2016 Mount Si HS grad, pitched two innings of relief, allowing two hits and a walk, striking out one, and receiving no decision, while Duvall’s Blaine Wagner, a 2016 Cedarcrest HS grad, was 0-1 with three defensive putouts behind the plate for the Redhawks, who won the opener of the doubleheader in Bellevue earning the split. They have started out the season strong, at 5-2.

UC Irvine 6, Gonzaga 1: The Anteaters took the middle game of their weekend series in southern California over the visiting ‘Zags. Junior Carson Breshears, he of North Bend and a 2014 Mount Si HS grad, was 1-3 with two putouts and an assist defensively for the Bulldogs manning second base.

Puget Sound 14, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 6: A nine-run second inning put the game away for the Loggers in their rout of the host California team down in Claremont, CA, yesterday. Freshman Jake Brady, from Snoqualmie and a 2017 Mount Si HS grad, was 1-2 for UPS in the win.

Lower Columbia 10, Bellevue CC 9: It was a rousing college debut for Snoqualmie’s Maddy Trout as Bellevue opened its season yesterday. Trout, a 2017 Mount Si HS grad, went 2-3 with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI for the Bulldogs in the first of two at home at Robinswood Park in Bellevue. She also had eight putouts and a defensive assist for BCC as well.

Mount Olive (NC) women 11, Lenoir-Rhyne 7: MOU moved to 3-1 on the season as they took command in the second half to beat the host L-R crew on their turf in Hickory, NC. Freshman Chaija Olsson, she of Snoqualmie and a 2017 Mount Si HS grad, started on defense and recorded one ground ball and one forced turnover by L-R in the contest.

Dallas men 17, Fontbonne 8: UoD hopped on an airplane up to St. Louis and left with a blowout road win over host Fontbonne with the assistance of Tyler Smith. Smith, from Snoqualmie and a sophomore this spring with UoD, scored four goals and also had an assist along with seven ground balls. Smith is a 2016 Mount Si HS grad.

Track and Field
MPSF Championships, Seattle: In the final day of action yesterday, in the men’s 3000m, University of Portland junior Logan Orndorf, he of Duvall and a 2014 Cedarcrest HS grad, took ninth overall, clocking eight minutes, 1.88 seconds, as the indoor season wrapped up yesterday for the Pilots with the league postseason meet in Seattle.
