Mount Si volleyball splits with Kingco 4A foe in advance of another match tonight

Mount Si’s volleyball program split three matches last night at Redmond. Highlights:

Varsity falls: In a close one at Redmond High School, Mount Si’s varsity fell in four to Redmond, 25-21, 26-24, 19-25, 25-23. Bellah Gogan led the Wildcats with 16 kills, 14 digs and three aces, while Bailey Showalter added 12 kills, 10 digs and an ace. Jade Petrzelka had 11 digs for Mount Si, while Dana Dolan had 33 assists, five blocks and a kill. Lizzie Belceto also paced the efforts for scarlet and gray, with 11 digs and an assist. The Wildcats are at Kentlake tonight.

Mount Si JV wins: In another close one, the Wildcat JV’s topped the Mustangs in three, 23-25, 28-26, 15-10. Megan Simpson and Tori BearBow guided Mount Si; Simpson had 18 assists on top of a kill, three aces and three digs, while BearBow had 13 digs, six aces and an assist. “Great win for the JV!,” wrote coach Dave Bachman in his game report to the SVSJ. “Very exciting and suspenseful match.” Clara Schlotfeldt paced the Wildcats with six aces and five digs, and Kira Holmberg pitched in four kills, two aces and three digs. Mount Si is at Kentlake tonight.

Wildcat “C” sweeps: Mount Si’s “C” squad handled Redmond 25-11, 25-19, 25-15, getting a nice three-set sweep over the Mustangs. Laura Anderson had 10 aces and four digs pacing the winners, while Alyssa Underbrink had 10 digs and four kills. Carly Fletcher pitched in three kills, five assists and three digs, while Taylor Maw had a dig, assist and ace each. Maya Asseft also contributed a service ace to the cause for Mount Si, who is at Kentlake tonight.

Mount Si at Kentlake: Tonight’s matches are at Kentlake High School in Covington, with JV’s and “C” starting at 5:45 with the varsity to follow at 7:15. To get there from the Valley, take SR 18 to Maple Valley and exit at the Maple Valley exit (SR 169). Make your way to SR 169 and turn right heading south toward Black Diamond. At the intersection for the Kent-Kangley Rd. (SR 516), take a right and head west. Follow west on SR 516 to 216th Ave. SE and turn left. Head south on 216th and after the road turns onto SE 296th St., you’ll see the entrance for the school on your right (at 219th Ave. SE). Turn right here and follow into the school.
