Diamond notes from baseball on this Saturday…..

Time now for baseball. Mount Si and Cedarcrest were off yesterday so we’ll start with college action first.

BYU 7, Gonzaga 4: The Cougars handled the Zags in Provo, UT, last night to even their weekend series at a game apiece. North Bend senior Carson Breshears was 1-4 for GU; he is a 2014 Mount Si HS grad.

Bellevue CC 2, Lane 0 (game one, doubleheader): Skyline HS grad Riley Gill, whose family now lives in Snoqualmie, went 1-4 for BC as the Bulldogs blanked the visitors from Oregon at Courter Field in Bellevue.

Lewis-Clark State 6, Vanguard 4 (game two, doubleheader): LCSC handled the visitors from California in the nightcap of two in Lewiston, ID, last night, sweeping the twinbill; they beat Vanguard in the opener 10-5. Senior Tanner Simpson, from North Bend and a 2014 Mount Si HS grad, pitched the final two innings of the nightcap game for the Warriors, allowing two unearned runs on two hits, striking out three.

Bellevue CC 8, Lane 2 (game two, doubleheader): Gill was 0-2 for Bellevue as they took the nightcap and swept the pair from the Titans, who are from Eugene, OR.

Kingco 4A/Wesco 3A: North Creek 4, Lynnwood 3 – Umpires called a balk on Lynnwood pitcher Will Ratliff in the bottom of the seventh with North Creek’s Jonah Smith on third base, enabling the Jaguars’ Smith to score the walk-off game-winning run and lift North Creek to the dramatic victory at home under the lights last night in Bothell. Julian Jackson led the Jaguars going 2-3 with a run scored while Danny Smith also went 2-3, with a double, leading the Royals.

Kingco 3A/4A: Lake Washington 4, Inglemoor 2 – Travis Lee doubled and drove in two runs as L-Dub rallied from an early 2-0 hole to sink the Vikings in the cross-classification Kingco clash at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore. Trevor Thurman went 2-3 pacing Inglemoor, and Kolby Solomon doubled, scored a run and drove in another pacing the black and gold. Joze Vizcarra pitched four innings of one-hit relief, striking out seven, to get the win on the hill for the Kangs.

Kingco 3A/North Sound: Juanita 7, Cedar Park Christian 4 – Juanita turned on the bats late to break an early tie at home in Kirkland and sink the 1A team from just up the road in Bothell. Matt McKeag doubled twice to key a 3-4 performance, scoring twice and driving in three more runs leading the Rebels, while Cody Krohn added a 2-4 effort with a run scored and two RBI’s. Brandon McCleum tripled to headline a 2-3 performance, driving in three runs, to lead CPC.

Wesco 4A: Kamiak 1, West Valley-Yakima 0 – Pitchers Nick Stahler, Sanha Oh and Ethan Norris combined on a four-hit shutout for the Knights as they blanked the visitors from central Washington at home in Mukilteo. Sunny Lee went 1-3 with the lone RBI for Kamiak, while Jackson VanDeBrooke had a double to lead WV-Yak. Hayson Groth allowed a run on three hits in three innings of work for the Rams and took the loss on the hill for the visitors.

North Sound: Bellevue Christian 18, King’s 0 – BCS put an emphatic exclamation point on this one with 10 seventh-inning runs as their pitchers two-hit the Knights in Seattle. Isaac Hines and Tyler Shook had the hits for King’s.

Kingco 3A: Bainbridge 9, Mercer Island 1 – The Spartans took control early and cruised to the victory at home on Bainbridge Island over the Islanders. Cole Miller went 2-3 with a double to lead MI.

Wesco 3A: Snohomish 12, Stanwood 7 – Colby Wallace homered for the Panthers as part of a 3-4 effort, driving in three runs, as Snohomish won their Wesco 3A North opener over the Spartans at Stanwood High School. Preston Pierce led Stanwood, going 1-4 with two RBI’s, and Ty Griffin also had a double for the home side.

Wesco 3A: Marysville-Pilchuck 8, Oak Harbor 3 – Pilchuck handled OH in their Wesco 3A North opener at home in Marysville. Austin Boesch went 2-4 with two runs scored for Oak Harbor.

Kingco 3A: Interlake 6, Jefferson (Federal Way) 2 – The Saints got a double and triple from Josh Emanuals to key a 4-4 performance leading Interlake to the home win in Bellevue. He scored a run and drove in another. Matt Rice pitched in a 3-4 effort, scoring two runs and driving in a third for the Saints.

North Sound: Lakewood 14, Sultan 0 – A pair of former Cascade Conference rivals met in this one in Sultan, and it was all Cougars. Caden Wolfson led Lakewood, going 2-3 with two walks, two runs scored and a RBI, while Garrett Davis also had two hits, a walk, scored twice and drove in two more runs. Jack Hamilton and Lawson Coy had hits for Sultan.

Wesco 4A/3A: Lake Stevens 10, Mountlake Terrace 7 – Theron Perkins went 1-4 with three RBI’s for the Vikings as the 4A team handled their 3A counterparts in a Wesco cross-classification clash at Lake Stevens High School. Ryan Cacatian homered and doubled to lead Mountlake, and Dillon Gordon paced the Hawks with a 2-4 effort scoring a run and driving in four more.

Wesco 3A: Everett 7, Meadowdale 3 – Aaron Robertson went 2-3 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI’s leading the Seagulls to the win at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood in a Wesco cross-division clash. Caden Lockhart paced Everett, going 2-4 with a run scored and RBI. Luke Hunnewell doubled and drove in two runs for the Mavericks.
