North Bend’s McCreadie hitting the beach in volleyball…..

Got a little nugget to share from volleyball for you.

A Valley athlete is seeing time on the sand with Santa Clara University’s women’s beach volleyball team. North Bender Anna McCreadie has been part of the Broncos’ top doubles unit the past two matches. The junior, a 2015 Mount Si HS grad, teamed with fellow Bronco Michelle Gadjka and the two fell on Tuesday to a San Jose State pair in straight sets. The visiting Spartans took the five-match contest 4-1.

Last weekend, McCreadie teamed with teammate Tessie Powers on the number one pair for the Bronco match against Saint Mary’s-CA, but once again fell in straight sets. The Gaels took four of the five matches to win the contest.

Santa Clara is 2-8 on the season and is taking on the University of New Mexico a little later today as it begins a road trip to Arizona to close out their regular season. They’re at a tournament today and tomorrow in Tucson hosted by the University of Arizona before closing the regular season on Sunday against Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.

Most of the players on the beach roster play with the indoor team that competes in the fall; McCreadie is among that group.
