Athletes of the Week for 5-8

Athletes of the Week now. Boys wild-cards.

CEDARCREST – Track and field this week and we give it to hurdler Aidan Meikle. The junior won the 110m competition and finished second in the 300m race last Wednesday for Cedarcrest in their win over Archbishop Murphy. Meikle was one of several Red Wolve boys who earned event wins in their league dual with the Wildcats, including previous AotW winner Ryan LaTurner. The Wesco/Kingco 2A posteason meet, featuring the Red Wolves against Mountlake Terrace, Archbishop Murphy and Kingco challengers Sammamish and Liberty, starts Wednesday at CHS’ stadium in Duvall.

MOUNT SI – The Wildcat boys’ soccer team finished the regular season 13-1-0. We recognized Henry Clark in this segment already, so we’re going to recognize the rest of the team today, particularly their Kingco all-league honorees. Five of them – Drew Harris, Reed Paradissis, Mateo DiDomenico, Jared Davies and Sullivan Smith – earned nods on the Kingco boys’ soccer all-league first team, and two more – Colby Ramsey and Paul Talens – made it onto the all-league second team. Jake Jimenez, Justin Hunter and Will Niemela in addition to Clark earned honorable mentions, and both Harris (offense) and Paradissis (defense) earned league MVP honors. Coach Darren Brown was also named coach of the year. And the rest of the team – Erik Davies, Jaedan Johnson, Dominic Faccone, Stuart DeMerit, Sebastian Bednik, Joey Salem, Kaidan Popp, Banner Hovinga and Cade Hahn – we also recognize here, too, because without their efforts this season, this team wouldn’t have ended up in this position. Mount Si hosts Mariner tomorrow night in round one of the playoffs. We’ll be there and we hope you will be, too.
