And from distance track, Waskom saves the best for last

Also, this morning, just received word that Mount Si grad Joe Waskom closed out his high school distance track career in style, nearly winning a prestigious national meet in his backyard last night.

Waskom finished second last night in the boys’ mile run at the Brooks PR Invitational, being held at the University of Washington in Seattle. He clocked four minutes, 3.73 seconds and finished just over six-tenths of a second behind winner Nick Foster from Michigan, who came across in 4:03.11. A close finish for sure, but one which will go down in the history books here in Washington. According to MSHS distance track coach Sean Sundwall, the time was the fourth fastest time by a high schooler here ever in state history.

Waskom, who graduated last weekend, will be attending the UW this fall and join his sister, Hannah, on both the Huskies’ cross country and distance track teams.

Congrats Joe!
