From softball…..

Yesterday, we mentioned here that the Puyallup-based Washington Ladyhawks Miller 18U Gold fastpitch team was in Boulder, CO, at a tournament there. We were incorrect. That event starts next week, but this weekend, the ‘Hawks are in New Jersey at a tournament there. The scores from yesterday now on Gamechanger and the Gamechanger app, available on Apple IPhones and IPads in their app store. Apologies for the error.

Rhode Island Thunder 4, Washington Ladyhawks 18U Gold Miller 1: The ‘Hawks got things underway early this morning falling to the team from New England. Carter, bound for Fordham University to play softball for them in the fall, went 0-2 with two strikeouts.

Washington Ladyhawks 18U Gold Miller 7, New Jersey Intensity 0: Hawks pitchers Madison DeWitt (King’s Christian HS, Salmon Arm, BC, Canada) and Kaia Simpson (Garfield HS, Seattle) combined on a one-hitter of the team from the Garden State. Carter doubled, walked twice and drove in a run pacing WLH, who plays again in the event tomorrow.
