On the college gridiron, 8-27

We have a couple of scores to share with you from Arizona’s junior college ranks that will be of interest to Mount Si fans.

In opening week action last night, both Glendale and Scottsdale made short work of opponents from the Seattle area. Glendale beat Green River of Auburn 37-6, while Scottsdale thrashed Everett 77-0. On the Glendale roster this fall is freshman Tyson Riley, a 2009 Mount Si grad from North Bend who transferred from Central Washington University, and on the Scottsdale roster this fall is sophomore Winson Sharps, a 2010 Mount Si grad from Carnation who last season played with Glendale.

The two Washington schools play as non-sanctioned “club” teams as football is not a sanctioned sport in the NWAACC conference, the conference which both Green River and Everett are members of.
