Sunday news….

Good Sunday morning. Another light one on tap today, but we will be checking to see how Mount Si’s football team did at the Ellensburg seven-on-seven event yesterday, and hopefully we’ll have that for you later. In the meantime, here’s what we have for you now, and a reminder if you don’t see your favorite team featured here, such as the one featuring your son or daughter, close relative, etc., let us know about them by emailing us at snovalleysports@gmail.com.

Softball: Flame Zacher takes two of three in SeaTac tournament
The Issaquah Flame Zacher took two out of three games in their tournament action yesterday in SeaTac. The U14 team beat teams from Lake Stevens and British Columbia after falling in their opener. Here’s highlights on all three games.

Game 1: Northwest Sidewinders Purple 4, Flame Zacher 2 – Valley players were in uniform on both sides of the ball, and a couple of them had contributions in the contest for their teams. The Sidewinders’ Natalie Luchtel, a Mount Si High School freshman, had a hit in two at-bats and scored a run, while for the Flame, fellow Valleyite Emily Webb also had a hit.

Game 2: Flame Zacher 12, White Rock (BC) Renegades 6 – North Bend’s Maddy Trout had one of the big hits of the game, hitting a three-run home run in the fourth which broke things open and helped the Flame cruise. Among the players on base when Trout teed off was fellow North Bender C.J. Howatson, who had entered the game as a courtesy runner for the pitcher. Trout also reached on an error and scored a second run.

Game 3: Flame Zacher 5, Lake Breeze (Lake Stevens) 3 – Trout’s bat stayed hot, and it helped another Valleyite, Bayley Barnett, rebound from some struggles in the circle in the game against the Renegades to get the win in the circle. Trout had a double and Barnett, a MSHS freshman, pitched a complete game, giving up three runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits, striking out three.
