Athletes of the Week for 10-2

Monday brings us another round of Athletes of the Week. Girls this week.

MOUNT SI – We welcome the Wildcats’ newest program to the Athlete of the Week stage this week, as we name junior girls’ swimmer Jessica Brady as this week’s AotW. Brady finished second in the 200 yard individual medley relay in both of Mount Si’s meets last week, against Ballard Tuesday and Bellevue Thursday at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge, among the best finishes by an individual in any event by a Wildcat swimmer thus far in their inaugural season. Brady came into the season as the top athlete to watch, so she is definitely living up to that billing. But she isn’t just doing it in the pool either – she’s doing it out of the water as well, as we are told she is the brainchild behind the team’s new well-done website, which you can see in our news links at right. She and her mom, Jana, have been instrumental in helping put this program together for this fall, and Brady is continuing to help ensure the program gets off the ground smoothly.

CEDARCREST – We had a couple of choices for this week’s AotW from CHS, but we are going to cross country and giving it to freshman Madi Shinn. Shinn finished 11th in her varsity race at the Bellevue Invitational last Saturday, clocking 21 minutes, 40.49 seconds. Shinn has been making waves all season, with strong showings at two other recent meets for the Red Wolves. The program this fall has a core of strong senior talent (Diana Carr, Olivia Waterman and Amelia Anderson), but Shinn’s emergence as a top freshman will ensure the success of this Red Wolves girls’ squad long after the Class of 2014 graduates and moves on to college.
