Mount Si boys fall in final game at Cactus Jam

By Rhett Workman

Mount Si’s boys’ basketball team closed out their tournament play at the Cactus Jam event in Phoenix with a loss to a team from Louisiana.

A big effort from one of their young players proved not to be enough in the end, as the Wildcats fell to Country Day of Metairie, just outside New Orleans. Colton Swain had a strong effort from the floor, scoring 22 points for Mount Si in the 87-75 loss which ended the Cactus Jam tournament for Mount Si with a 1-2 record; their lone win came last Friday over Sequoia of Redwood City, CA. Swain hit six of eight from the floor, with most of those coming from behind the three point line, where he went five for seven.

Beau Shain had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats, who return home this evening and will close out their nonleague schedule at home with games Thursday and Friday at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie.

Jack Nelson aided the efforts for Mount Si with 13 points of his own, while Parker Dumas pitched in nine points.

If you want to welcome the Wildcats back home…..
Mount Si’s boys’ basketball team will be returning home this evening. Their plane should arrive at Sea-Tac Airport around 6:30 tonight. It will be a Southwest Airlines flight, #1715, which will be coming in from Phoenix through Oakland, CA.
