Local girls’ softball team wins tournament, and a MSHS freshman contributes

From youth girls’ softball, we have news of a team featuring a Mount Si High School freshman winning a tournament yesterday.

The Issaquah Flame ’99 U14 team, with Wildcat Heather Hinton, won three games to win the “14B” crown at the Blast Into Spring Event in SeaTac. Hinton played in all three games and did well.

In the first game of the day, a 10-7 win over PNW Force, Hinton went 1-2 with a run scored and a run driven in. She continued her good efforts with a hit in her lone at-bat in the second game, a 6-1 Flame win over Skagit Valley Thunder Berg from Mount Vernon, then in the title game, a 16-3 Flame blowout of the Bellevue Blast ’00, Hinton went 1-3 with a run scored.

Good stuff for sure from a freshman Mount Si fans will be seeing plenty of as the season wears on.

There was one other game featuring a second Wildcat freshman yesterday:

Snohomish Shock U18 6, Bellevue Blast ’99 U16 2: The Blast fell to a team from Snohomish in the U16/18 playoff opener; Claire Lis went 0-1 for the Blast in the contest as a pinch-hitter.
