Athletes of the Week for 4-28

Time now for the Athlete of the Week this week. Back to the ladies, and we hit the links for both of these.

MOUNT SI: We finally get an opportunity to recognize a golfer who could be in the midst of having a great 2014 season. Sophomore Caitlin Maralack leads the league in medalist points with 25 after going five-for-five in medalist rounds to start the season for the Wildcats, who are 3-2 on the spring. She is averaging a score of 39 for the five matches Mount Si has played thus far, and could be a contender for the league individual title at their upcoming league tournament May 12. Maralack carded a round of 35 for the Wildcats, tying a season-best, in their loss last Wednesday to Mercer Island.

CEDARCREST: Junior Amanda Fairbanks has been among the players leading the way this spring for the Red Wolves, and her score of 25 (Stableford scoring) paced CHS in their hard-fought win this past Thursday at home in Carnation over South Whidbey. The Red Wolves are currently in the thick of the race for the Cascade Conference crown, and efforts like Fairbanks will be key down the stretch for CHS, who heads over the mountains tomorrow for a tournament at Suncadia Golf Course outside of Roslyn, before returning to league play with their final home match of the season next Friday.
