College action, 10-28

Friday night on the college front was somewhat busy, especially on the pitch. Here’s the roundup.

Cedarcrest grad has another big night for Chapman men’s soccer
The Chapman men’s soccer team scored a win last night, and a Duvall product once again made his mark.

Brett Richardson scored his third goal of the season to lift the Panthers to a 3-0 blanking of UC Santa Cruz on home soil in Orange, CA. The goal, which came in the 76th minute, continues a strong last couple of weeks for the Chapman senior and Cedarcrest HS grad, who scored goals in games each of the past two weekends.

Battle of Mount Si grads on men’s soccer pitch
Two former high school teammates squared off against one another yesterday down in Arcata, CA, and for Sam Evans, his efforts were key in helping his Chico State team beat Humboldt State.

Evans, a sophomore goalkeeper for Chico from Snoqualmie and 2010 Mount Si grad, made four saves and only gave up one goal as the Wildcats scored a 2-1 win over the ‘Jacks, who feature freshman Eric Baumgardner, a 2011 MSHS alum from North Bend. Baumgardner started up front for HSU and played 66 minutes, not recording any major stats of note.

Fairfield women score win over league rival
The ‘Stags blanked Canisius on the road 1-0 last night in Buffalo, NY. Nikki Stanton, sophomore and 2009 Mount Si grad from North Bend, started for Fairfield in the midfield and played all the way, not recording any major stats of note.

Cal-State Bakersfield men win a mile high
CSUB defeated Denver U. 1-0 last night in the Mile High City. Junior Evan Fassler, a Cedarcrest HS grad from Carnation, saw limited action off the bench for Bakersfield and logged one shot which did not reach the goal.
