Friday news and notes….

Good Friday morning. Two items from college sports on this Friday:

Baseball
Gonzaga, Purdue split two in desert: Gonzaga University’s baseball team took on Purdue yesterday in a twinbill down in Phoenix, AZ, with both teams winning one game apiece. Purdue won the opener 5-3, with junior shortstop Dustin Breshears aiding Gonzaga’s efforts going 1-3 with two walks and four defensive assists. The 2011 Mount Si High School grad from North Bend then went 2-6 with an RBI, one defensive putout and three assists, to help the Bulldogs score a 12-2 win over the Boliermakers in the nightcap. GU continues play in Arizona today.

Basketball
Valleyite’s team to play for conference title: The California Lutheran University women’s basketball team will get a shot to compete for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title after posting a win in the tournament semifinals last night. CLU defeated Chapman 76-61 at home in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Regals feature sophomore post Katy Lindor, a 2013 Mount Si High School alum from Snoqualmie. She scored two points and added two assists in 19 minutes of work for CLU in last night’s game. The win for the Regals advances them to the title game tomorrow, against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, CA, with the winner advancing into the NCAA Division III national women’s basketball tournament.
