College summer baseball note

Quick note from baseball this afternoon. We have mentioned for you here about the new college baseball summer league teams in the Valley, with local players on both teams. Turns out there’s a few others from the Valley also playing college summer ball locally as well.

In addition to the Pacific International League, which includes the two local teams – the Fall City-based Northwest Honkers and the North Bend-based Snoqualmie Valley Hurricanes, there’s at least three other college summer leagues which have formed this summer in the Puget Sound area. Two of those leagues will have local players participating in them.

The West Coast League’s Bellingham Bells will have on their team this season North Bend’s Dustin Breshears, who is an infielder for Gonzaga University, and two teams from the Northwest Collegiate Baseball League will also have Valley players. Cedarcrest High School grads Colton Sandhofer and Clayton Lacher will be playing for the Pilchuck squad based in Snohomish County, and Mount Si High School alum Evan Johnson, from Snoqualmie, will be participating with the Eastside franchise in that league.

We’ll do our best to keep you updated on these players as well throughout the summer. If you know of any local college baseball players competing this summer in those so-called “summer” leagues, let us know at
