Valley girls’ softball players to put talents on display in Colorado tournaments

One other item of note today and that is from softball.

Action starts today in several major national-caliber girls’ fastpitch tournaments in Colorado.

The Colorado Sparkler, Colorado Fireworks and Boulder Independence Day tournaments, all happening in the Boulder and Denver areas, bring together some of the nation’s top girls’ fastpitch teams, many of them who will be playing in front of large numbers of college coaches. A few Valley players will be on hand for the activities. The Northwest Ladysharks Hagen 16U team, from Kirkland, will be competing in the Fireworks event, while the Washington Acers 18U Wilson squad, from Auburn, will be in the Sparkler event. MSHS senior-to-be Rose Vogt (Sharks) and junior-to-be Claire Lis (Acers) will be competing with their respective teams. Also, local player Lauren Rich will be participating in the Boulder event, as a guest player with a Texas team, the Texas Impact Gold Newberry 16U.

We’ll have full coverage throughout the week. This has been a staple of your editor’s summer coverage schedule now for over 10 years, and we are excited once again to bring you coverage of what is arguably the biggest week of girls’ club softball of the season.
