Afternoon diamond update on this Wednesday…..

A couple of diamond items this afternoon:

-The Issaquah Flame 12U select girls’ softball team finished up pool play this morning at the USSSA national championships in Perris, CA, scoring a blowout 17-2 win over the Arizona-based Black Widows team. North Bend’s Hope Bostick walked three times for the Flame and scored a run, while Molly Wilbourne, of Snoqualmie, scored twice and drove in a run despite an 0-4 effort (she reached on both an error and a fielder’s choice). The win for the Flame clinched second place in their pool with a 2-1 overall record. They will open playoff action tomorrow.

-We forgot this one from last night in this morning’s wrap, and we apologize for that oversight. It comes from the Pacific International League college summer circuit, where the Snoqualmie Valley Hurricanes posted a 4-2 win over BLE last night in Auburn. MSHS grads Joe Done (0-4, RBI), Aaron Peterson (0-4) and Chase Kairis (0-1, two walks, run; 2/3 ip, strikeout, save) all participated in the game last night for the North Bend-based Hurricanes team.
