Local fourth-grade boys basketball team wins title
A team of fourth-grade boys from Valley elementary schools won the Bellevue Boys & Girls’ Club Olympic Division recreational youth basketball league title this season. They recently beat a team in overtime which they had lost two twice in the regular season to win the crown, which for a number of the players is their second straight in the league; as third-graders many of them were part of a Valley team which also won the title. The players on the team are Issac Edson, Cole Mitchell, Hayden Kirwin, Jake Jimenez, Cam Ferreri, Max Madani, Andrew Sheeks, Brayden Holt, Drew Warford and Jack Gardner and the team is coached by Rocky Kirwin, Chris Mitchell and Chris Sheeks. Congratulations to them on this accomplishment from the SVSJ.

Mount Si girls’ golf struggles in season opener
The Wildcats fell on Monday to Bellevue, 263-302 (lower score wins) at Overlake Golf and Country Club. Bellevue’s results were not reported, but Mount Si was led by a 55 from Danielle Burns and a 57 from Tabitha Dorn.

In other league action Monday, Lake Washington beat Interlake 264-273 despite a medalist round of 42 from Saint Anna Jessen at Bellevue Golf Club, and Chelsea Saelee’s medalist round of 36 propelled Mercer Island to a 219-236 win over Liberty at Maplewood Golf Course outside of Renton.
