Red Wolve girls’ soccer with pair of wins over Everett….

Quick wrapup from soccer last night.

Cedarcrest High School’s girls varsity squad posted a 2-0 win at home over Everett last night in Duvall, but it came potentially at a big cost.

Madelyn Davidson and Elisa Piira scored the goals for the Red Wolves, who moved to 2-1-1 on the season but late in the contest lost goalie Natalie McCabe to a knee injury of some kind. Coach Alex Hickox tells us she was slated to get it looked at today with her future status unknown. The fear, of course, is that she may have torn the knee, meaning it would be a season-ending injury for the starting goalie.

Davidson scored her goal in the eighth minute off a feed from Leah Cammarano, then Piira got hers off a pass from Jolie Nicholson in the 56th minute. Everett had an opportunity late to get on the scoresheet, but failed in a penalty kick attempt, after which McCabe suffered her injury.

“We had a great turnout from Red Wolves Nation, we thank them all for coming out and supporting the team,” Hickox told us by email. “I think our confidence in playing and beating a tough Stanwood team spilled over to our match tonight vs. the Seagulls. We wanted to play fast and move the ball because we knew the Everett roster was a bit light tonight. I think we accomplished this, for the most part.”

CHS hosts Marysville-Getchell this coming Tuesday night.

JV wins: A pair of goals from Mackenzie Miller led the Red Wolve JV to a 3-1 win over Everett in the junior varsity game. Sam Ellsworth also scored for Cedarcrest, who got its first win of the season with the result.

The Red Wolve JV’s host the Chargers at 5:00 followed by the varsity at 7:00 at CHS’s stadium in Duvall, 29000 NE 150th St.
