Good Tuesday morning. We’ll have our basketball preview feature tomorrow for you, but we have some news this morning that will factor very much into that this coming weekend. Another one of the college teams featuring local players has had to shut down temporarily due to COVID-19.
This would be Montana State University’s men’s basketball team, with freshman Tyler Patterson, he of Snoqualmie and a 2020 Mount Si HS grad. The Bobcats were scheduled to do a home-and-home set with Idaho State University this coming weekend, but those games are off thanks to MSU taking its pause due to, according to a statement released yesterday by the school, “one or more individuals being identified as either needing to quarantine or isolate due to COVID-19.” The statement did not elaborate as to which players or team personnel were affected or how they may have been exposed to the virus.
Already this season, both the University of California women and St. Mary’s College’s men, with Patterson’s fellow 2020 MSHS’ers Sela Heide and Jabe Mullins respectively, have had to take similar pauses in their schedules, and both the University of Portland men and Pacific Lutheran University men, with two other Wildcat alums, Hayden Curtiss and Brett Williams respectively, have had games canceled due to other schools’ having paused their seasons due to the virus.
At this time MSU is the only team currently being shut down of the five with Valley athletes, but that could change, and we’ll advise of course if it does.
