News from the hardwood…..

Good Wednesday morning. News this morning from the hardwood and it’s an update to the schedule for Valley college hoopsters this week.

As we have told you in the past, the schedule of games for the Valley’s college hoops Division I foursome of Tyler Patterson, Sela Heide, Jabe Mullins and Hayden Curtiss could change due to COVID-19, and that is exactly what has happened for Patterson and Montana State University’s men’s basketball team. Their home games tomorrow and Saturday with Southern Utah University have been canceled and for the moment declared no contests by the Big Sky Conference after Southern Utah announced a temporary shutdown of their program following individuals associated with it testing positive for the virus. SUU did not elaborate further as to the nature of their situation, but nevertheless, the two games this weekend are off and are not expected to be rescheduled.

Other schedule news:

Game time announced for St. Mary’s men’s hoops on Saturday: The scheduled tip time for St. Mary’s College’s men’s hoops game with Pepperdine University on Saturday has been announced. The game will take place at 5:00 p.m. inside St. Mary’s home gym at the UCU Pavilion in Moraga, CA, and be streamed on the WCC Network, available on the WatchStadium app. The game time had not been made official until yesterday’s announcement. Mullins and his Gaels tonight finish up their non-conference schedule hosting Sacramento State at 7:00 p.m., also on WCCN.

Game times for Cal women: The tip times have also now been announced for the two University of California women’s basketball games in Arizona this coming weekend. The Bears will meet Arizona State University in Tempe on Friday, New Year’s Day, with a 2:00 p.m. tip time to be televised nationally on the Pac-12 Network. Heide and her teammates then head down I-10 south to Tucson for their Sunday clash with the University of Arizona, which will tip at 11 a.m. and also be shown nationally on P12N. The national feed is available in the Valley on Comcast and Dish Network.

We wish all of the players and teams luck in their upcoming games.
